European Around The Ship Photo Gallery
The 4th segment
Someone decorated my door for my birthday. I brought a few decorations for Brian, so I thought that he found them and put them up. No, it was Margaret and Doug.
My birthday towel bear.
A birthday note from my room steward.
We had a specialty dinner at Giovanni's for my birthday. It was so delicious!
We saw Gibraltar with some mist on the water as we passed by while eating our dinner.
The sunset started and we're still eating my birthday dinner. What a nice view!
So pretty in pink!
Sunset over Gibraltar .
Our folkloric show in Portugal was Tuna de Medicina do Porto. A tuna is a group of university students in traditional university dress who play traditional instruments and sing serenades.
This group were all med students and very entertaining! We loved the show!
Tap Factory-This was an exciting show with tap and break dancing, acrobatics and drums with comedy added in. We loved it.
The Royal Caribbean meteorologist was on board, so had an enrichment lecture to teach us about meteorology.
This was a chart on how waves are measured.
Before we arrived in Ireland, we had an Irish storyteller, Paddy O'Brien.
Someone decorated our door for Brian's birthday. There were 14 other cruisers who also had a birthday on the same day, one of them being our ship neighbor, Jane.
Our room steward, Cliff, made Brian a nice cake for his birthday!
Brian's large towel birthday cake.
Our Irish cultural show.
It's cake day in the Windjammer.
Such nice cakes!
Frankie & The Dreamers put on a high energy and fun show. The ship voted them the favorite, so they returned for our homecoming and were in the very last show.
Winner of 2015 'America's Got Talent.' Paul is a comedian ventriloquist. I enjoyed his show.
"Graffiti Classics bursts the boundaries of the traditional String Quartet with its hilarious all-singing, all-dancing musical comedy cabaret show." This is their description of themselves and it's accurate.
Margaret is participating in the tricks our waiter is performing.
I enjoyed the acrobatics of Duo Lyodji.
More from Duo Lyodji.
Almost every morning when I got up I watched this show to see what Joff or Michele had to say about what's going on for our day. I enjoyed Michele's "Joke of the Day."
Getting ready to go under the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark. It's one of the largest bridges in the world at 11 miles long.
It's been awhile since sunset, but we're north where twilight lasts a long time.
A Norwegian folkloric show-The dances were very interesting!
This was very early morning August 13, 2024 (12:44am exactly) after we had left Oslo, Norway. I had gone to bed early because I was so tired from watching the night before. Doug called an hour before this to tell me to come out, but I didn't. I don't wake up from sleeping quickly.
An hour later I finally went out, because I'm wide awake now. I tried seeing it with my phone and taking photos, but couldn't see because I didn't wear my glasses.
I kept trying and was super frustrated because I thought that I got nothing. Imagine my surprise several days later when I saw these on my phone.
I actually have some photos of the Northern Lights. It's funny how a phone camera can pick up these images, but you cannot see it with yours eyes.
Our room steward, Cliff. We will miss him!
We came back from touring one day to this.
It was a very nice surprise!
This was a Norwegian cultural show. The young girl knew all the dances. They explained all about their costumes and instruments.
On August 17th we had a Crown & Anchor Society meeting. Many people have made it to the Diamond Plus level, which we have become a part of on this cruise.
We had a Captain's Corner Q&A with Captain Stig, hotel director Phillip, and chief engineer Slawomir.
Captain Stig started the trip with us until Cabo San Lucas and got back on somewhere around Italy and finished the voyage with us. We really liked how he was always calling us "Fellow sailors."
Captain Stig is showing a photo of us backing away at 17 knots from the locks at Amsterdam. When things were getting a little crazy with the protestors the decision was made to go wait out in the sea.
Phillip, who is a fellow Arkansan from the same area Brian grew up in (but originally from the UK), was our great hotel director.
The Beatles entertained us one night. They were a good Beatle cover band!
Another photo of the Beatles.
Brian's photo of the Northern Lights when we first went up to see them. You could actually see them with your eyes, but only a little bit where the light is so bright.
This photo was taken between Greenland and Canada on 8/27/24 at 11:57pm. I had my glasses on and am ready to see what I am doing.
At 11:58pm the lights were getting stronger and I could actually see some of the lights with my eyes. It was so exciting!
This is how we decorated the wall in our room. The Necessarys bought us the scratch off map. I requested all the photos and brought magnetic frames which worked great!
They gave us certificates for all kinds of things, like crossing the equator, crossing the time line, celebrating leap year, and the world wonders we visited. It was fun to hang them up. Notice our metals-I won a dart competition, Brian a golf one, and both of us several other things.
The Royal Singers that have been with us the whole cruise: Danielle, Whitney, Julian, Patricia and Daniel. They were great singers and entertainers!
Each of the Royal singers created their own show. We missed Whitney's show when we got off the ship as it went around Africa. We were very happy that she repeated it one more time.
The number of diamond plus and pinnacle club members are increasing.
They started giving out the employee of the month awards during our Crown & Anchor event which was so much fun for us.
Florence would welcome us to lunch almost everyday with hand sanitizer.
Georgios was an excellent guitarist and played for us several times. I guess he was good at safety stuff, too.
When you reach pinnacle status you are rewarded in the Crown & Anchor Society meeting. This is Steve and Cathy MacIntyre from Canada. Steve sang in the choir with us.
This is Roy and Edna from Halifax, Canada. We seemed to run into them when we did walking tours on our own. They are a very nice couple!
This is Bob Gustafson, a very nice person. He was in our Bible study group.
Craig was always our top cruiser on the trip. He has a lot of points! He was a nice guy!
I loved when the Windjammer would have chopped salads at lunchtime. You gp through a line and choose all the ingredients that you want and then they chop and mix it for you. It was always so good!
I'm getting ready for a painting class.
I talked Brian into it, too. He actually was happy to take a painting class.
I'm almost done. We were painting a seacoast scene, something we've seen many times.
Brian is also almost done with his painting. We thought they turned out pretty good.
The final of all the certificates' photo. We have double of what's hanging on the wall, one for each of us.
I hung the 4 segment cruise certificates with the scratch off map after I packed up the photos to send home.
Daniel was a great pianist in addition to his singing. He was the star of a tribute to pianists like Elton John, Billy Joel, etc.
This is violinist Gary Lovini, a winner of a major British TV Talent show.
Our last choir performance in the centrum. We realized that we improved so much over the course of our cruise.
Another angle of our choir.
A close-up of Brian in the choir.
New banners for the last part of the cruise. It helped to turn the cruise into a celebration.
A show by DSB (Don't Stop Believing), a Journey cover band.
Brian and I with Kat at the Gatsby Party. Kat was one of our favorite staff member. We hope to see her on another cruise someday.
I'm with Tavo and Zeko, also on the entertainment staff. They were great!
Paloma, was on the sports team and was great! Our interaction with her was Cardio on the Helipad, "Walk Around the World" book stamping, and the golf simulator.
These were the snacks they had the "Common Ground" event.
We got to meet Michael Bayley at the event called "Common Ground."
Michael Bayley announced the upcoming reunion cruise and answered a lot of questions.
The captains, Michael Bayley and others from the executive team that helped to make this cruise possible.
Some fun homecoming signs around the ship.
There was a celebratory brunch for the world cruisers after our "Common Ground" meeting. I started with fruit.
Brian got a lobster roll.
We both got the crab cakes Benedict. It was very yummy!
Brian and I with Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean International's senior vice president of Sales, Trade Support and Service. She joined the ship for the homecoming celebration.
The "Wishes at Sea" auction is starting.
The auction goes on where a lot of money was raised.
In the auction we won a photo with the 2 captains on the bridge, so we looked around while we were there. This is the view from the bridge.
The main area of the bridge.
Is he annoyed with all the bridge visitors today?
On the bridge.
The control area of the bridge.
Someone is constantly surveying the water in front of the ship looking for anything that might be in our way.
The compass in the front window.
The compass with our next destination, Bermuda.
Our selfie on the bridge of the ship.
I'm relaxing on the bridge of the ship.
Another control area of the ship in the bridge.
This banner was auctioned off at the "Wishes at Sea." I'm not sure who bought it, but my friend Ann is on the left end, Captain Scheel's wife, Jennifer, is in the middle, and Tabitha, Ann's daughter is on the right side of the captain's wife.
The different flag storage area.
Looking out the bridge backwards down the ship's port side.
Our last show with the Royal singers and dancers.
They were great and I loved them!
All kinds of flags are hanging in the Centrum getting ready for our last party of the cruise.
One more view of a lot of flags.
Peter was one of the sports team on the ship. Once he came on board he started a program called Sit-to-be-Fit, which Brandee told me about. I tried it out and never missed a day after that. It was only on sea days.
On one of our last days we went down "Memory Lane."
Dan was one of our friends, so liked this photo.
This couple met working on a cruise ship. Now they are passengers with their twin sons that we saw riding in a wagon at many of the ports. These little guys grew up a bunch in 9 months, in fact, they were potty trained in this time.
This guy is a chiropractor and had many patients on the cruise ship.
Chantel was a soprano in our choir.
Lety and Diana were in our van when we toured Cusco, Peru.
This is Jane Sweetman, our ship neighbor. It would've been fun to climb the Sydney bridge.
This guy was adopted from South Korea and had hopes of discovering his biological parents. He wasn't able to get any info about his parents, but he did meet another passenger who was also adopted from the same center as he was.
In the "Wishes at Sea' they auctioned being able to "Blow the Ship's Horn." I have to admit this would've been fun to do.
Several on our cruise went to see Taylor Swift while she was touring in Europe.
We met Terry and Mark when we went with them to bring Christmas to this orphanage. This was also a special highlight!
This couple had so many great costumes! I loved to see how they were dressed at all the different parties.
Steve was in the choir with us, and the Rio fireworks at midnight were definitely a highlight!
This was the parents of Tik-Tokers Madison and Brooklyn. They are a very sweet family!
Brandee and her father, Nate, were in our ship community group (Bible) study and great people. Nate led the group when we got off when the ship went around Africa.
Randy became one of our friends at the huge dinner in Lima, Peru.
Cecilia with a baby llama. She worked so hard to arrange a bunch of tours for groups.
Mark and Jane is in this group. Brian and I didn't ride in these at Ho Chi Minh, but we did in Penang and should've each had our own seat.
Arica's Carnaval was such a colorful highlight!
This is such a great photo of Shel! We met Karen and him on the bus on the tour to Chichén Itzá. They were also in our small group.
I met this couple on the sail away from Bermuda. It was crazy how we were still meeting world cruisers up to the very end.
We met Sue and Earl on the trip to the Grenada orphanage. We ate with the several times in the Windjammer and really enjoyed getting to know them.
Rick and Gretchen were another couple in our community group. I enjoyed getting to know them, also.
The Linderman's had 3 children onboard, which so reminded me of my grandchildren. I enjoyed seeing them around the ship and wished that my grandchildren could be there, also.
I never met the Al Phanant owner (and author), but found out about it from this slide.
The Centrum is ready for the Flag Festival.
The ice sculpture and watermelon sculptures in the Windjammer are very nice. I love these beautiful extra touches that used to be so common on cruises.
Most sea days they had a baggo tournament (It's corn hole, but they couldn't say it.) in which you were paired up with a random person. I didn't get to play as much as I wanted because of choir. This is Edith, a friend I made when I could play. I made it to the semi-finals this day.
The staff's shirts they had made for the bag tournament.
We had another appearance of King Neptune during the "Homecoming."
Our last party where we were inspired by our favorite port. Guess which one was Brooklyn's.
This is Hali, who had the best time on the cruise. Bernard and Brooklyn are behind her.
Brian and I with Sheenaugh, the activities director. She was great!
Phea and John were our neighbors for part of the trip. We had a lot of noise in the middle of the night above our heads because of cleaning in the Park Central Cafe. They could not take it and was able to move in the 2nd segment of the trip. They were nice people, too.
The last night after the show they brought staff members from all over the ship up on stage , so that we could appreciate them.
We met a few fellow Ohio State Buckeyes, Mike and Linda, on our trip.
With our ship neighbors, Mark and Jane from UK. We had great neighbors!
Last day goodbyes with Renske. She is a very sweet person from South Africa.
