Nha Trang, Vietnam Photo Gallery
Notice the 2 flags? The red with the star is the Vietnamese flag, the other is the communism flag.
Our tender boats ready and waiting to take us ashore in Vietnam for the first time.
I'm sitting in the back seat of Captain's Jeep and think it's the perfect photo of my view. The Captain always used his hands when talking.
Water buffalo under a bridge to stay cool.
This is a place where they make incense, which is spread out to dry.
Dien Khanh Old Citadel is a living museum of medieval times, bringing visitors back to the glorious past of Khanh Hoa Province.
The view from the top of the Citadel, and you can see that the bougainvillea is beautiful!
The Captain is showing us a bunker that was built by the French in WWII and used by the Americans in the Vietnam War.
Inside the bunker.
Looking out a window in the bunker, I can imagine being a soldier in that place.
The vegetation is trying to take over the bunker.
A view of the river and mountains. Can you Imagine soldiers going up and down that river?
A bridge that was blown up by the North Vietnamese in the Vietnam War.
We are now at Yang Bay, A resort-type place where there is a big waterfall. They had all kinds of colorful animal figurines around the property.
The Captain pointing out the jackfruit.
Another animal statue at Yang Bay.
Brian is impressing the Captain by playing the Klong Put, where sound is produced through resonance by clapping at the end of the tubes.
Doug relaxing in one of the many swings at the waterfall park.

We took candy to the kids out in the mountain village. They had been cooling down on this hot day by swimming in the river.

A war memorial of some kind.
They straighten the bamboo poles here near this fire.
This is a photo of a swallow (swiftlet) nest farm. Edible bird’s nests are considered a delicacy. Edible-nest swiftlets build the nests from their saliva. The nests are used therapeutically in traditional Chinese medicine and bring a very high price.
A photo of Chopsticks Restaurant and the owner, Andy.
Our fried spring rolls, which were so delicious because they were made with a netted rice paper.
My view at the restaurant, which sits on a river.
Andy, of Chopsticks, an excellent chef!
The four of us, Doug, Margaret, Brian and I, at Chopsticks. Andy has a cooking school there, which we wished we had time to attend.
Another view from the restaurant.
The 4 of us still at Chopsticks and with our guide, The Captain.
A cute little boy riding his bike!
Part of what's left of a fishing village.
We were told that these used to be barracks for US soldiers that have been repurposed for housing.
The temperature was 93 degrees the day we were visiting and notice how this woman is dressed. They do not want to expose any part of their skin to keep it light, otherwise they will not be considered beautiful.
Captain with the Jeep that he bought and restored to look like a new one. We had quite the experience riding all around the area in that Jeep.
Doug, Margaret, Gwen and Brian with the Captain and his Jeep.
The sunset over Nha Trang, this Asian resort town, was pretty.
The Vinpearl Resort seen from the ship. You access this place by a gondola.
