Rue de Vin's, France Photo Gallery
The Alsace area is just beautiful with storybook village after storybook village.
Storks are a big thing in Alsace and here in Ostheim we saw our first nest.
See how high this nest is, on top of a war memorial.
There are many castles in Alsace with the three here so close they fit in one photo.
Poppies, vineyards, and villages! We saw this over and over in Alsace.
In Riquewihr we were treated to some accordion music, what a treat!
Close up of a accordion.
Cutest little accordion player ever!
A local Alsace dish, tarte flambee. It was very good, somewhat like cheese bread.
They like to decorate the windows here.
A local meat and cheese store.
The clock tower in Riquewihr.
The flowers and greenery were beautiful here!
Such a cute courtyard!
Looking down the storybook street.
I loved the colorful buildings!
Window boxes full of flowers were a common treat.
Vinyards filled all the spaces between the villages in this area.
These flowers are called Cerastium Tomentosum or "Snow in Summer." It's looks like a blanket of snow.
We are headed to that castle on top of the mountain.
Panoramic view looking across the valley towards the Black Forest in Germany.
In the Alsace area they have the Crucifix of Jesus displayed frequently.
Chateau du Haut-Koenigsburg, the only medieval castle in Alsace that has been fully restored.
I love this window seat! I could see myself sitting there reading a book.
The draw bridge.
A grand hall!
A dragon in the castle.
The chapel in the castle.
This is a huge and thick door!
I think there were many deer in the area.
Weapons from the Middle Ages.
This is a ceramic fireplace, which they had all over the castle. I've never seen anything like this, but I bet they warmed up a room very well.
This castle had an inner garden. If I was stuck in a castle I would love this area!
I like that this hole in the wall for defense was shaped like a cross.
The view over the Vosges Mountains.
See how close the Alsace villages were to each other and all the vineyards around them.
Looking out of the castle over the valley.
One of the inner courtyard areas.
This is where we had an excellent lunch in Ribeauville after exploring the castle, Au Cheval Noir.
The cute town of Ribeauville and a castle on the hill.
A huge stork nest on this building.
There were many store signs hanging over the doors of businesses.
Just so pretty!
A corner decoration.
Another stock nest in this village.
This one is on top of a building.
I love seeing a church on the hill side!
Poppies were so pretty on the road sides.
