County Kilkenny, Ireland Photo Gallery
Driving down the narrow country roads, I felt that Brian was driving like a local. He adapted very well to driving on the left side of the road.
The Garrandarragh Inn in Mullinavat, which was right between Kilkenny and Waterford and where we stayed for a few days.
I loved the beautiful flowers in the windows at the Garrandarragh Inn.
Marita, one of the Irish people we met along the way. She gave us such a warm welcome at the Inn with her delightful Irish accent.
It was a gorgeous day on my walk to Poulanassy Waterfall.
Poulanassy Waterfall-After I drove to where the hike starts I saw that I had forgotten my camera, so had to go with my phone photos.
St Canice's Cathedral-Christian worship began here nearly 1500 years ago & continues to this day. The Round Tower dates from the year 1111..
A gate to St. Canice's Cathedral. The name Kilkenny, meaning "the church of Canice," comes from this pre-Norman settlement.
Beautiful steps and flowers that lead to St. Canice's Cathedral.
Gwen On this beautiful stairway.
The hanging baskets of flowers were very pretty in Kilkenny.
We did a Smithwick's Experience here in Kilkenny, which gave a lot of history of the city including the first monk brewers from the 14th century.
Brian in front of Smithwick's old brewery.
A nice display of their red ale.
We went to the lab to taste and smell different ingredients in their ales.
The color of the ale has changed to darker over time.
The ale was included in the experience, but I really didn't care for any of it, but Brian did.
One of the pedestrian streets of the city.
The Butter Slip-A little lane that was built in 1616 and once flanked with the stalls of the butter venders on market day.
I guess the animated fantasy adventure film called Wolkwalkers is based in Kilkenny.
Kilkenny Castle from the very long lawn in front of it.
The castle guest carriage entrance.
Looking at the carriage house and stables from inside another part of it.

We had a delicious lunch at Left Bank, a former bank that was built in 1870. It was very beautiful inside the restaurant.
Here's another photo at Left Bank.
A flower-lined pedestrian bridge crossing River Nore.

Such a cute and colorful street!
We finally saw a pretty sunset in Ireland at the inn in Mullinavat!
